At Huxlow Academy, we aim to provide a high-quality Geography education which inspires in our pupils a level of curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Geography at KS3
We want our students to both ‘think like a geographer’ and ‘study like a geographer’. Year 7 begins by introducing a range of geographical skills which they will need to become effective geographers. These skills will recur throughout the key stage in a variety of contexts and will, ultimately, underpin their understanding of GCSE Geography.
As students move through KS3, they will deepen their understanding of place, location and how physical and human processes interact. This is achieved through focused study on named locations such as China, the Middle East, Russia and India.

Geography at KS4
The AQA GCSE Geography course (8035) is a broad, engaging curriculum that splits geographic study into two main types: physical (the natural world) and human (how people interact with the world). It is assessed entirely through three written exam papers taken at the end of the two-year course, with no coursework but a strong focus on fieldwork and geographical skills.
