KEY STAGE 3
The aim of the course is for every student to enjoy their creativity. Once a week, they will develop skills in a range of media and build up confidence in their artistic ability. Students will build resilience and be encouraged to take risks, learning from their mistakes and ‘happy creative accidents!’

To fulfil your potential at Key Stage 3 you should:
- Come to every lesson with a positive attitude
- Be prepared with the correct equipment
- Try your best
- Homework is set once every three weeks, and students have a week to complete the task.
KEY STAGE 4
Students have the opportunity to opt into Art for Key Stage 4 which enables them to have Art for three sessions a week. Year 9 is used to develop confidence and a range of skills, so that in Years 10-11 students will have the skills, knowledge and understanding to be more independent and be naturally more skilful as art practitioners and designers.

To be the best you can be at Key Stage 4 you should have:
- A passion for Art and Design
- A background of hard work and a good ethos for work and learning
- The energy to sustain enthusiasm for three years - the course is 80% coursework and labour intensive
- The time to nurture an ability in Art
- Basic equipment
- Art equipment such as watercolours/ oil pastels is advantageous
- A camera is also advantageous to the course; although this can be as basic as a phone camera
- Homework is set fortnightly for Year 9
- Homework is set weekly for Year 10 and Year 11

WHAT CAN I DO WITH AN ART QUALIFICATION?
Opportunities include:
- Natural progression to A- level and/or other level 3 courses
- Apprenticeships in photography and other creative industries
