Community
At Huxlow we recognise the important contribution we make to the development of community cohesion within the school and in our local community.
We continue to work hard to maintain and develop the school as a thriving, achieving and harmonious environment which prepares our young people to play a positive role in the school and wider community.
We have strong relationships with a wide number of local bodies including the Local Authority, the Police, feeder primary schools and local sports associations. We work in partnership with them to improve the local environment and make it a good place to live and learn. We provide many opportunities for our students to develop self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills and to be positive citizens, helping younger students and taking part in activities that benefit both the school and the local community. This involvement helps to keep them on positive paths and gives skills that they can take into the local community outside of school time.
Our students regularly raise money each year for a wide range of local and national charities. They have supported Cancer Research, Children in Need, Royal British Legion, British Heart Foundation and Guide Dogs for the Blind to name but a few.
We work closely with the Finedon Educational Charity who provide support for the education and development of young people living in Finedon.
Events such as Armistice Day, Remembering Srebrenica, and Holocaust Memorial Day are all commemorated along with other national days and events. We hold an annual Christmas Carol concert at St Peters Church in Irthlingborough which is free to attend and is open to the local community. We also host an annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party for our local community which is well supported and a MacMillan coffee morning.
We are continually looking for projects and community events to support so please get in touch with Mrs K Hughes (Headteacher's PA)
