A Warm Welcome to Huxlow

My philosophy is very clear, 'if it is not good enough for my child, then it is not good enough for yours'.

At Huxlow we are committed to developing the whole child, and strive to ensure that every student’s experience is one where they feel Safe, Happy and experience Success.

School years should be the most memorable, and our aim is to offer a wealth of opportunities and experiences to ensure every student leaves enriched and equipped for life beyond Huxlow.

Each member of staff is committed to a common goal which is to ensure ‘every individual is empowered to fulfil their potential’. As well as an excellent academic provision student can expect high quality wellbeing support through out each Key Stage. Our most recent OFSTED recognised that “everyone in the school puts pupil’s well-being at the centre of everything they do”.

We are proud that as a result of their Huxlow experience and personal dedication, students are supported to achieve their goals and go on to a range of top Universities including Oxford and Cambridge, access competitive Apprenticeships and acquire sought after roles in the world of work. Mostly, we are proud that our students go on to be responsible young adults who are an asset to our community.

I am incredibly lucky to lead such a dedicated team of staff at Huxlow and to watch our students flourish, equipped for exciting futures, as a result of staff expertise and guidance.

UK Parliament Week 2019 to be celebrated by Huxlow Science College.

Huxlow Science College will be carrying out activities to mark UK Parliament Week and ‘have our say’ on the issues that matter most. Year 7 students will be taking part in a debate and a vote. Their vote will be taken forward to Parliament for discussion by a group of Year 12 students.

UK Parliament Week is a UK-wide festival taking place from 2-8 November, which aims to engage people, especially young people, from different backgrounds and communities, with the UK Parliament and empower them to get involved. This is a great opportunity to be part of a thriving democracy, ask questions, think critically and engage with the UK Parliament. Schools, museums, libraries, faith communities and youth organisations representing every constituency across the United Kingdom have already signed up to be part of the conversation.

Huxlow Science College said: “We are excited to join communities across the country getting involved in UK Parliament Week 2019 and getting our students involved in playing a vital role in their democracy. In 2018, UK Parliament Week reached almost 1 million people, with more than 8,100 activities. This year’s UK Parliament Week festival is expected to be the largest ever.

David Clark, Head of Education and Engagement at UK Parliament, said: “We are delighted Huxlow Science College has taken the opportunity to participate in this year’s UK Parliament Week and inspire their members to get involved in their democracy. “There are many exciting activities happening across the country as part of this year’s UK Parliament Week, with schools, workplaces and community groups using the week to have their say on the issues they care about most. This year’s UK Parliament Week will be the largest ever and we can’t wait to see all the fantastic activities that will be taking place.”
